Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) was developed in the late 1970s by Thomas Dougherty at Roswell Park. At Roswell Park, it is used to treat various types of cancer. Part of the NIH Program Projects and Centers.

University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine

At Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center, radiation oncologists and other cancer specialists use light-sensitive medication together with low-level beams of light to destroy cancer cells. Part of the NIH Program Projects and Centers.

Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School

Using and understanding light and its effects to improve health and advance medical science. Wellman’s multi-disciplinary faculty focuses on investigating the effects of light on human biology and discovering new diagnostic and therapeutic uses of light.
