The 2018 ESP Photobiology School will take place in Brixen/Bressanone in South Tyrol, Italy.
The purpose of the ESP Photobiology Schools is to provide an introductory overview of all main aspects of photobiology, presented by experts in each area. The intention is to cover the basic principles of photobiology and photochemistry of biomolecules as well as applications of such knowledge in understanding effects of climatic changes, influence of light on biological systems, applications of light in medicine and related purposes.

The school will cover the following areas:

Photophysics and photochemistry
Biophotonics - Light dosimetry in biological tissues,
UV (from cells to skin tissue, DNA damage, Vit. D effects)
Photomedicine
PDT and fluorescence diagnosis
Photodermatology
Photosynthesis
Environmental photobiology

The School is mainly funded by the ESP and only in small part by the income from the registration fees. Therefore the School can accept only a limited number of students and can not provide additional fellowships. PhD students attending the entire program will have priority. Approval of registration for PhD students will be on a “first registered and paid – first approved” basis. Others will be accepted if possible so please do apply.

Registration fees and deadlines
Early registration (before 31 March 2018): Student/PhD student 100 Euro; Post-doc/Researcher 150 Euro
Late registration (after 31 March 2018): Student/PhD student 150 Euro; Post-doc/Researcher 200 Euro

The registration fee covers attendance at all lectures, lunches, coffee breaks and the (one) official dinner. Lodging and dinners other than the official one are not covered by the registration fee.

Participants will be lodged at the Academia Cusanus (http://www.cusanus.bz.it/en/index.asp(link is external)) which is at a 10 min walking distance from the School venue. Standard student accommodation is in twin rooms and breakfast at the rate of 35 Euro per night per person. Only a limited number of single rooms are available at the rate of 40 Euro per night.

Accommodation has to be paid together with the registration fee.

Deadline for registration and payment: 30 April 2018.

Information about preliminary approval of registration will be provided as soon as possible after registration.
The registration will not be given a final approval before payment has been registered. Those who do not pay in time will lose priority.

Deadline for submission of poster abstracts: 30 April 2018.
